The Open Window : 5 Versions of the Same Photo

The picture for this weeks Sunday Snap is called The Open Window. This picture was taken on my recent trip to Goreme, where living in a cave is quite the norm.

I came across a cave cafe while out walking one day and loved the quaint décor style, thus leading me to snap away with my point and shoot camera and produce this photo.

However to make this weeks Sunday Snap a little bit different, I am posting all five versions of the same photograph.  I will explain further as to how I have five versions of the same photo.

Photo Editing

So, lately I have been trying to improve my photography skills. I now spend countless hours on photo editing programs instead of actually doing any work. I know photo editing programs will not put food on the table and pay the bills, but I will let my husband worry about that as I am having great fun at the moment.

I have learned that photo editing programs  can take a  picture and create a vibe that is the complete opposite from the original picture. Depending on your use for the photo, the ability to change its vibe can be quite useful.  So here is  today’s Sunday Snap and below you can see it in five different versions, all made using the PhotoScape editing program. Let me know which one is your favourite.

  1. I honestly like the original one best. It’s a beautiful shot and needs no special effects (in my unprofessional opinion).

Whereabout was this cafe in Göreme?..just curious as I lived there for more than 3 years. Hope you’re having a wonderful time there xx

  2. I like the original one too, actually, but if I had to choose I would definitely go with the colored pencil version. In my mind’s eye that is how I would see a shot like this — soft, muted colors, blurred lines. I really like that one.

  3. I like them all, but I think the first one would be my pick.

  4. I love the photos! What camera are you using?

    • @Terry. That was just a normal point and shoot camera made by Cannon.

@Nancie. The original is pretty but I love the Antique one. Gives a air of mystery I think.

@Barbara. Hi Barbara. Good to see you on my blog. I like the coloured pencil as well, but it is a bit too light for my liking. Shows what you can do with editing programs though.

@Ayak. I had read on your blog that you lived there for 3 years. I was so jealous. I would love to spend a summer there. The photo was taken at the Peri peri Cave in uchisar. Technically not Goreme really.

  5. antique and cartoon catch my fancy but the original is good too!

  6. I agree with Ayak that the original is beautiful as it is. No need to alter. However, I was also quite taken with the antique version. It has a feel to it that fits well with how I think about places like that.

  7. phil + Di marina gateway says:

    us too the original one

  8. I like to play with photos, too. I love them all, and I agree that the original one is great. and among others, I love the cartoon version best. It is more like from a story. Great job!

  9. @Hi Zerrin. thanks for stopping by. I love your Turkish recipe blog. Shame I can not cook though!

The carton picture is ok, will still continue to play around with different photos and see what results I get.

@Phil and Di. I want to see your photos some day Phil and Di. I bet you have a wide stock from all the places you go gallivanting off to.

  10. why dont you try to play with the light effect to change the entire mood of same still frame? that is very interesting thing to work on.

  11. It looks like you experience Turkey like what we are wanting to do. We have 2 weeks in September we are planning on and do want to see some of the noteworthy historical site but also wouldl ike to experience more authentic towns, villages and shops. Do you think we need a tour guide or can we tour on our own. We have been to Turkey about 5 years ago and are looking forward to going back without a tour bus and being able to stop where ever we want or happen upon. Thanks for any place you would recommend.
